Privacy
what this site collects and why
I keep this short and plain. This page covers alexstudio.ch: the contact forms, online payments, the server logs and my own visitor statistics. Last updated 26 October 2026.
Who is responsible
Alex Petrenko, Alex Studio, Rue des Plantaporrets 8, 1205 Geneva, Switzerland — info@alexstudio.ch. Write to me about anything on this page.
Hosting
The site and its server are hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland. Pages, fonts and photos all come from that server: nothing is loaded from other companies, and there are no advertising or social-media trackers. Links to Instagram, Facebook, Google, Calendly and my other sites only take you there when you click them; from then on, their own privacy rules apply.
Contact and quote forms
When you send a form, what you typed (for example your name, e-mail address and message, or the details of a group quote) is e-mailed to me at info@alexstudio.ch. I use it only to answer you and to prepare your photo session, and I keep the e-mails as long as needed for that and for my bookkeeping. To stop spam and floods, the server keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of the sender’s IP address with the time of sending, for up to a day.
Payments
The “Buy” buttons take you to Stripe’s payment page. Your card details go to Stripe, never to me. Stripe tells me your name, e-mail address, what you bought and the amount, so I can confirm your booking. Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., Ireland, and its affiliates) may process data outside Switzerland, including in the USA; see Stripe’s privacy policy. The form on the thank-you page sends me your preferred times together with the payment reference, so I can match them to your payment.
Server logs
Like every web server, Infomaniak’s records each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file asked for, the page you came from, and your browser and system (the “user agent”). The logs are kept about 32 days at Infomaniak. I copy them to my own computer in Switzerland to make the statistics below; there, once a day has been processed, the IP addresses are shortened (the last part removed, so they no longer point to one connection) and the full logs are deleted after 35 days.
Statistics
I want to know which pages and photos are useful, where visitors come from, and whether the site is fast and works. For that, a small script of my own reports, together with the page address:
- that a page was viewed, the website you came from (without its query), campaign tags in the link (utm), and whether the link came from a Google or Facebook ad (yes or no only);
- your browser language, time zone, screen and window size;
- how long the page was visible, how far you scrolled, and which sections you reached;
- clicks on links to other sites, on the phone number or e-mail address, on photos opened large, and on the “Buy” buttons; that the e-mail address or phone number was copied (not what was copied);
- that a form was started, sent, or showed an error, and which fields were missing — never what you typed;
- how fast the page loaded and reacted, and any errors on the page.
Each report is a request to a tiny image on this server, so it ends up in the same server log as above and goes nowhere else. To tell new visits from returning ones, the script keeps a random ID in your browser’s storage (localStorage, not a cookie), with the date it was created and a visit counter. The ID says nothing about you, is read only by these statistics, is never shared, and expires 13 months after it was created; it is not extended. No other website can read it. I look at the results myself, on my own computer, as totals.
Switching the statistics off
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the script sends nothing and stores nothing. You can also switch the statistics off for this browser here; that deletes the ID. The server logs above are kept either way.
The statistics need JavaScript: with JavaScript off, nothing is measured.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection you can ask me what I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. Write to info@alexstudio.ch; I answer within 30 days. Some things I must keep by law (for example payment records for bookkeeping). If you think I got something wrong, you can also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
